When my daughter was born in 2014, I was pretty darn confident that I would be a great mom. After all, I was a neonatal nurse who took care of 3 babies at a time!
Surely I could care for one baby, 24/7 right?
Turns out I was completely unprepared for how sleep deprivation would rob me of my confidence, energy and joy of being a first-time mom. In the beginning, I fed my baby to sleep and we both slept well enough. But then the 4 month sleep regression hit hard, and the next thing I knew she was 7 months old and we hadn’t slept longer than a 2 hour stretch for ages.
I felt totally overwhelmed. I didn’t have the energy to enjoy my baby. I argued with my husband a lot. I began to feel depressed and anxious and I started thinking that things would never get better.
But there was a small voice inside me telling me that sleep was the problem, not me. It assured me that I was the perfect mom for my sweet baby, I was just too exhausted to realize it. This voice convinced me that if we got the sleep we needed, everything would get better. I scoured the internet and read all the books for the best way to sleep train my affectionate and sensitive baby.
All I found was “Just cry it out” which felt uncomfortable or “Wait it out” which felt impossible. I thought “There must be a happy medium. Surely, sleep training can be responsive and customized depending on a baby’s temperament, age and parenting style.”
Since I couldn’t find what I needed, I created it.
My daughter started sleeping through the night in less than a week. I felt incredible: happy, optimistic, lighthearted and energetic again. I started sharing what I did, tailoring it to other families, and over time my business was naturally born.
Turns out there’s a lot of tired parents out there. It doesn’t have to be this way, so I made it my life’s mission. Since 2015, Baby Sleep Made Simple has helped more than 100,000 families find tender and effective solutions for their children’s sleep and over one million people visit our website each year.

Alyssa is Head of Support. She hosts private and group sleep consultations as well as runs our online Sleep Training Communities. She’s a baby sleep pro! She’s a mom of two girls and worked as an Elementary School Teacher before joining our team.
Micaela is Head of Operations. She’s the wizard behind all of our tech magic and ensures our clients have easy-to-use online programs. She’s a mom of two living in Italy and worked in Digital Marketing before joining our team.
Jilly is the Founder of BSMS and is always striving to give parents what they need and deliver customized, effective sleep solutions. She’s a mom of two and worked as a Neonatal Nurse before starting BSMS.
